Falconer backs war advice secrecy (Guardian)

Lord Falconer, the cabinet minister responsible for open government, gave his first indication yesterday that he could veto the release of potentially explosive legal advice from Lord Goldsmith, the attorney general, on whether Britain should have gone to war with Iraq.
The lord chancellor made it clear on a visit to Bingley, West Yorkshire, that he believed the advice should remain secret – along with other legal advice such as guidance on the introduction of ID cards, because the government “needs space” to consider its options.
